Prepare, Fortify, and Defend

Stephanie Morris

Time to Fortify Your Defenses

The above heading came from an email subject line. Typically, it would have been sent directly to the trash bin as the sender wanted me to purchase something. Not today. The subject line stopped me in my tracks. Yah (God) speaks in many ways and through whomever he chooses. As you can see, the heading is a message to the receiver—a poignant one.

As believers of The Most High God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and followers of Yahusha Hamachiach, Messiah, let us examine ourselves continually. We are called to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Similarly, we must examine our spiritual walk consistently.

In the gaming world, there is an avatar, a character with a mission to complete. They are navigating stages—levels, if you will—and there are hurdles the character must overcome along the way. Some are agents sent in disguise to distract the character from their mission; others are obvious foes dangerous and oftentimes require rules of engagement immediately. In other words, they must be dealt with swiftly. If not, the character will be destroyed.

Then, there are tools provided: health to overcome injuries and experience points can be acquired, allowing the quality of tools to align perfectly with that particular level to be completed—provided the boss is destroyed before moving on.

In terms of our spiritual walk, we, the remnant, are on a quest to seek first after the Kingdom of Yah and His righteousness (Christ) so that all these things (tools) can be added unto us (Matthew 6:33). We are in a matrix of systems, cultural constructs, workplaces, and yes some of us may even be in congregations whose doctrines are enemies of The Most High including His laws, statutes, and commandments. That's why we must come out of her (Revelation 18:4). We must flee from those mindsets, ideologies, and practices that are in direct opposition to our Creator.

The Master is coming for a bride without spot or blemish. Every day we are gifted to open our eyes is a day of battle as children of the Most High. Through prayer, communication with the Father, being still, quieting ourselves, shutting out all the noise, and giving proper attention and care to His leading, this is paramount.

I recall Pastor Cherry's revelation last Sabbath concerning the 'secret place'. He mentioned asking for tools when communicating with the Father. What battle are you fighting today? Do you have your tools? Are you aware you are in a battle? Remember, on any given day, we are battling our flesh, the enemy's plots, and schemes, including human vessels open for Satan's influence and this fallen world. However, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. They are mighty through Yah to pulling down and destroying strongholds - in the mind, generational, fill in the blank (2 Corinthians 10:4).

No matter the distraction: people, places, or things, we must keep our focus on Kingdom business. Remain vigilant and on guard. Continue to pray for wisdom and discernment in the small and great. He will see you through as you surrender and die daily to the old you.

The Word of Yah tells us expressly that we must put on the full armor of Yah. Ensure that you have on your breastplate of righteousness, shoes prepared with the gospel of peace, loins girded about with truth, the sword of the spirit (Yah's word), the helmet of salvation fitted tightly, and above all, the shield of faith to quench the fiery darts of the enemy (Ephesians 6:14-16). Allow Yah to make you battle-ready. Prepared, fortified, and ready to defend your spiritual territory alongside the Saints!
