First Market Experiences
We have just arrived in Mexico and are already immersing ourselves in the vibrant local culture. From connecting with the friendly residents to savoring the incredible cuisine, practicing the language, and supporting local businesses, every moment is filled with exploration and appreciation. One highlight has been indulging in the fresh and flavorful produce from the local market. However, above all else, our mission is to build genuine relationships and exemplify the love of Christ in all that we do.
One of the venues we ventured to for fresh produce, was surrounded by a bustling cluster of markets within walking distance. The proximity of these vibrant markets created a lively atmosphere, filled with a myriad of sights, sounds, and scents. As we strolled through the aisles, we couldn't help but be captivated by the abundance of colorful fruits and vegetables.
Not only did we delight in the exceptional quality of the produce, but we also seized the opportunity to practice our newfound Spanish-speaking skills. Engaging in conversations with the local vendors, we exchanged friendly greetings and even delved into more in-depth discussions about the produce and the region. It was an enriching experience that allowed us to connect with the community on a deeper level while honing our language abilities.
Walking from market to market, we reveled in the diversity of offerings and soaked in the vibrant ambiance. The experience was a testament to the beauty of immersing oneself in the local culture and embracing the opportunity to engage with the community. Our journey in Mexico has not only nourished our bodies with fresh, flavorful produce but also enriched our souls with meaningful interactions and language practice.
At the local market, we had the pleasure of acquiring a crate of 72 exquisite red and orange mangoes for Zion's Refuge Mexico (another variety than the one pictured above)! These magnificent fruits are a sight to behold, their vibrant colors beckoning us. With each bite, their succulent flesh bursts with unparalleled sweetness, leaving an indelible impression on our taste buds. These Mexican mangoes stand apart, their deep orange hue and luscious texture surpassing anything we are accustomed to in the States. Truly, they are a delightful treasure that brings joy to our palate with much other fresh produce from soursop, pineapples, watermelons, papaya, cucumbers, grapes, tomatoes, and more! It's an alkaline lover's paradise!
